Document Management
Court case records are made up of a series of events. Those events relate to forms or documents that have been submitted by case parties or judges. Each event may contain one or more document. interCOMM can store these documents so that they are easily accessible by judges or court users simultaneously, without having to print them out.
Internal
interCOMM stores documents securely as part of the electronic case record. Documents stored in this way means the court no longer needs to find space to store paper files. Files can be shared by all users simultaneously.
External
interCOMM can interface with any 3rd party document management solution that supports open-standards.
Documents stored within interCOMM can be shared by any number of users
Data Purging
interCOMM includes the ability to purge records according to an approved RRDS within the document management module however we would not recommend purging records from the main case management database for three very good reasons:
- Data resides in an enterprise scale relational database capable of processing many millions of records. interCOMM only extracts the records it needs for any given process. Data could be kept for decades and still not notice any performance degradation.
- As disk storage becomes ever cheaper (around 6 cents per Gigabyte), it actually costs more to delete data than to increase capacity.
- Keeping older data available can have benefits. For example statistical trends can be analysed and serial offenders tracked over a longer period.
