It is natural for people to be wary of a change in their familiar routine. Introducing a new computer system can seem like a daunting prospect to the new users. Visionhall staff believe the best way to ensure a smooth transition is to involve the users from the start. We are respectful of the work they need to complete and the pressure that they might be under. However participation, involvement and open, early, full communication are the important factors for a successful project. Sitting with the users and observing the work that is undertaken enables us to talk their language. Workshops are very useful processes to develop collective understanding, approaches, policies, methods, systems, ideas, etc. We encourage face-to-face communication where ever possible with all staff who are helping to manage an organisational change.

Time away from their duties to attend user confidence reviews, for example, must be kept to a minimum and carefully planned so that they can comfortably be away from their desks and make their contributions.
